Visual and Data Literacy Learning In-Person

(edWeb)

Visual and data literacy are integral elements of media literacy. Many websites feature images and statistical information to attract and inform visitors. Understanding these features helps students think critically about what they read and learn. Visual literacy promotes inquiry and helps synthesize learning. It challenges students to develop skepticism. Learners with strong data literacy skills can mash up data sets to create new learning. Incorporating visual and data literacy into professional learning offerings helps teachers transform their curricular units.

In this edWebinar, Michelle Luhtala, Library Department Chair at New Canaan High School, CT, will share strategies to fold visual and data literacy into classroom and professional learning. All K-12 librarians, teachers, and administrators interested in learning more about visual and data literacy learning are invited to attend.
