STEM-errific Ways to Avoid the Summer Learning Loss In-Person

(edWeb)

Parents and teachers alike dread the notion of summer learning loss, commonly known as the “summer slide,” “summer slump,” or “brain drain.” Whatever you may call it, research has shown that kids’ academic inactivity can lead to a month’s loss of performance for elementary students over the summer months. However, summer is the perfect time to engage kids of all ages in meaningful play activities. By seeking out a balance of offline and online activities, kids can continue to build skills around the 4Cs—collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and communication—throughout the summer break.

STEM-rich activities are an engaging way to combine summer fun with quality learning experiences. In this edWebinar, discover family-friendly activities that you can share with your students’ families, your neighbors, and your own kids! This session will benefit STEM teachers, K-8 teachers, art teachers, SPED educators, librarians, tech specialists, administrators, and makerspace facilitators. There will be time to get your questions answered after the presentation.
