Create Powerful STEM Lessons Through Design Thinking In-Person

(edWeb)

As the back-to-school season starts, learn how to set your classes up for success by creating powerful STEM lessons where every student is engaged and empowered to make decisions about their own learning.

In this edWebinar, you will learn about using lesson design as a first step toward tailoring instruction to meet the needs of your students. While shifting from teacher-led to student-driven instruction is the goal, finding a balance between both approaches and empowering students’ self-directed learning comes with various challenges. Former educator Christine Gonzalez will share well-designed lessons that provide design thinking processes and scaffolding for students as they transition to a more student-centered approach and prepare them for life beyond the classroom.

The approach to lesson design in this edWebinar is based on Universal Design for Learning practices partnered with research-based frameworks for personalization, differentiation and project-based learning (PBL), focusing on engaging students with important elements of creativity and collaboration.

This live, interactive session will support you with a comprehensive format for designing STEM lessons by:

  • Exploring digital and traditional tools for making learning visible in blended learning classrooms
  • Sharing insights from well-designed learning experiences and ideas for creating opportunities for students to self-assess
  • Partnering design thinking processes with researched formats for supporting student growth and development

There will be time for Christine to answer your questions after her presentation. All K12 teachers and administrators interested in ways to empower and engage students with self-directed STEM learning are invited to attend!
