Getting Started with Environmental Monitoring in Your Collection

The environment that surrounds an object or collection is one of the biggest contributors to that object’s preservation. Simple-to-measure and quantifiable factors including temperature, relative humidity, and light exposure accelerate or slow natural degradation processes. While easy to measure in a singular moment, implementing a monitoring program for your collection can be a daunting task. How much data do you need? What do you do with it?

In this webinar, Claire Winfield, Conservation Liaison at Conserv, will walk attendees through the importance and how-to’s of getting started with environmental monitoring, using her experience creating a cumulative light monitoring program at the Saint Louis Art Museum as a case study.
